How many of you are using Facebook to promote your business?
We know that there are already over 100,000 small businesses with pages on Facebook, so I was curious how many of you are actually using Facebook or any other social network to grow your business.

How do I find profitable, ethical clients?
I have a small accounting & tax business. I have an accounting degree, but I am not a CPA. I live in a midsize city and compete with CPA firms and tax franchises like H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, and Liberty Tax. I began my business after being let go by H&R Block because of a disagreement with the district manager. I have been in the ProAdvisor Program since 2007. One of my bookkeeping clients, a used car dealer, is on the verge of going bankrupt. I am working very cheap because he needs me, and can't afford much for accounting. Another one of my clients is an entrepreneurial auto repair business, who is opening another shop at a second location. They need me to do payroll as well. However, the owner has not taken the time to file his personal income tax return for 2007, and since I use ProSeries Basic for taxes, I cannot help him anymore with his 2007 taxes. I am looking for profitable, ethical business owners to expand my business. How do I find them? I do excellent work, and have the references to prove it. I am taking advantage of the rating system on the Find A ProAdvisor website.

I recently lost my job as the Financial/Administrative Manager at a non-profit agency. I want to take this opportunity to start my own business as a Quickbooks educator, bookeeper and grant writer. What is the first thing I should do?

Initial Business Expenses and Pass-Thru Invoices
I have started a new business (C corporation). I am new to Quickbooks a) Initially, since there was no income, I spent money from my personal account for all the business expenses. Although, I am president of the company, I am not yet employee of the company. I would like to know how to get reimbursed for all the expenses I incurred. b) I purchased equipment on behalf of the client and paid for it from my personal account. Now Client has paid back but to my company account. How do I handle such situation. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Start up Costs
1: I have a person who formed an LLC on 1-27-08, but she did not actually make her first sale until 9/2008. 2: From October 2007 to January 2008, she made quite a few purchases for the LLC she was planning on forming. Question: Is the start up costs those from October 2007 to the formation of the LLC or are the start up costs from October 2007 to the date of her first sale? Thank you!
